ECM TOOLS (GUIDE) for ePSXe 1.7.0 ISO GAMES (convert .ecm into .bin .cue .img etc…)

I created this thread because it is related to what I posted here: http://www.symbianize.com/showthread.php?t=579609

From that link, you may now download ePSXe 1.7.0 with plugins, bios. Plus a lot of ISO games to choose from.

What is ECM TOOLS?

Required if your file is of .ECM type and you need to convert to ISO/BIN/CUE. ECM is a special compression technique which allows better compression on CD images and thus saves on space as well as bandwidth!

If you already encountered this type of a file and you did not make it work using your emulator (ePSXe) then you have to extract it into .bin, .cue, or .img. file types. After converting it to a correct file type, you may now run your ISO game and then play it.

But first, how to convert .ecm to .bin/.cue/ .ccd or .img

1. Download the ecm tools

Download ecm tools here!

2. Extract it anywhere…

3. Open ecm tools folder and open also the folder where you put your .ecm file.

 

For example, we want to convert Moto Cross Mania 2.ecm into either .bin, . cue or .img…

Because we will be converting it into a new file type, UNECM is the term to be used.

So just like what I did from the screenshot above…

Drag your .ecm file to unecm application.

Then a new screen will appear for the decoding process.

6. After the process, go back to the folder where you put your .ecm file.

Together with your .ecm file… notice that there’s a new file.

In this example, .ecm was converted into .bin
